Make Your Voice Matter is a unique, “user-friendly, no experience necessary” approach to social action. It shows ways people can tailor their interpersonal skills to make their opinions count before decisions are made in the seats of power – in city and town halls, state houses, and in Congress.

Make Your Voice Matter is especially geared to community groups; non-profits; providers of human services, childcare and health care; immigrant organizations; advocates; religious congregations; and PTOs.

Make Your Voice Matter is a project of Stein Consulting founded by Miriam Stein, MSW, a recognized leader in the field. An experienced trainer, consultant, advocate, lobbyist, media specialist, and published author, Stein is writing a handbook based on her extensive years of advocacy and media workshops and consulting.

Ms. Stein has been: Director of Communications at the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition; Director of Governmental Affairs at the National Association of Social Workers, Massachusetts Chapter; and social worker at a Head Start Center at a Boston, Massachusetts public housing development. Her awards include: Social Worker of the Year, National Association of Social Workers, Massachusetts Chapter, 2006; Martin Luther King Jr. Arlington Community Service Recognition Award, 2003; Citizen Award, Arlington Fair Housing Advisory Committee, 1998.

To people and organizations who say they want to help others but “don’t want to get involved in politics” she emphasizes: If you insert your voice, then you have a chance of influencing the decisions in the halls of power. If you don’t communicate your ideas, then you have NO chance whatsoever of swaying those decisions. It’s the ‘only game in town’ so to speak since public officials will make choices whether or not they hear from you.
